Sony Lyric Thursday (One Day Late)

Pink- Dear Mr President - Live

"Dear Mr. President"
P!nk (feat. Indigo Girls)

Dear Mr. President
Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep
What do you feel when you look in the mirror
Are you proud

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why

Dear Mr. President
Were you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
How can you say
No child is left behind
We're not dumb and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell

What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye

Let me tell you bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work

Oh How do you sleep at night
How do you walk with your head held high

Dear Mr. President
You'd never take a walk with me
Would you

Always slamming the President...why don't you just leave him alone? He's doing the best he can.

I'd never seen this.

Her questions are all very humanized. In a way that brings Mr. President down a bit from his cloud.

I often feel this way about people in power or rich people. There is nothing wrong with being wealthy and having some of the finer things in life, but what I don't understand is how somebody can for instance guild their diningroom ceiling with real gold for hundreds of thousands of dollars or buy new $1000 shoes every week and walk by homeless people or hungry children or children who can't afford new clothes or school supplies.

How do they do that? My grandmother recently lost her three part time jobs (yes my 85 year old grandmother had three jobs until just recently) one of them was a job feeding hungry children in a cafeteria. My grandmother didn't make much money at this part time job, but government fund cutting ended the program so now the children don't eat and my grandmother is out of a job. I send my grandmother extra money when I can (my parents send her money too) so we all try to help take care of her, but I still feel guilty when I buy myself something nice and I wonder if she has enough quality food for the month. How people can ignore so much pain and need I really don't understand.

The only way I think it can be done is to be in denial about it. To sort of shut yourself off, build a callous. Some people I think just lose all sensitivity.

I dunno.

1 John 3:17: But if anyone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need and refused to help - how can God's love be in that person?

Deuteronomy 15:7-8: But if there are any poor people in your towns when you arrive in the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hard-hearted or tightfisted toward them. Instead, be generous and lend them whatever they need.

James 2:15: Suppose you see a brother or sister who needs food or clothing, and you say, "Well, good-bye and God bless you; stay warm and eat well" - but then you don't give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?
