Flags of Our Fathers (Just No Black People)

Once again, Hollywood has created another World War II movie that includes NO BLACK PEOPLE.

For a much, much better picture of the contributions of Black people to World War II, read Christopher Paul Moore's excellent book on the subject, "Fighting for America."

Better yet, listen to me narrate it. :)

Self promoting whore! :)

In regards to the lack of black characters in this movie, I just don't understand Hollywood. I don't, for a second, think that Clint Eastwood (who directed) is racist but what is the explanation for the lack of black representation???
There have been plenty of great movies and shows in recent history that have done the same thing and it's about time that this sort of thing should be regarded as inexcusable.
That said, I really want to see this movie so it makes me part of the problem.

I saw the movie this weekend and it was indeed a very good film. It offers an excellent portrayal of the horror and haunting aftermath of wars as well as the often necessary propaganda needed to support and win them.
Co-written by Paul Haggis, it also speaks to the racism felt by one of the soldiers, a Native American, Ira Hayes.
African-Americans though are inexplicably and inexcusably absent from the film as if they didn't even exist.
I've not heard Clint Eastwood comment on this quizzical omission but I'd love to hear his explanation.

I'm curious to hear the excuse behind this too. I'm certain I would have noticed it had I gone to see the film.

Surely at least a few black people worked on this movie - did NONE of them say something? Hard to imagine.
